| Mike excels both academically and athletically. His goals include obtaining a degree is business or mathematics from a well acclaimed US college or university in the Fall 2010. He wants to extend and expand his golf career and play at the highest level possible while receiving a quality education. Mike currently is a 2 handicap and is projected to be a scratch golfer by the Fall 2010. In 2008 he had some impressive results including finishing 10th at the Mizuno Canadian Junior Golf Association National Championships in a field of 45 shooting rounds of 77, 87, 77, 78 at National Pines. Mike also finished 2nd at Maples of Ballentrae on the CJGA tour with rounds of 71, and 80, and shooting 76, and 71 to capture the Junior Club Championships at his home club Big Cedar.
Mike's coach of 3 years, Murray St. Onge, is ranked as one of the top 60 coaches in the world (by the World Golf Teachers Federation) and has taught 3 provincial champions and the #1 ranked female junior in Canada and top NCAA women's player Stephanie Sherlock. He describes Mike as fundamentally very solid with good rhythm and tempo. His course management skills and mental toughness give him the consistency to be a successful collegiate player at the US level. In addition to athletic achievements, Mike has obtained an 80% average throughout high-school maintaining honor roll status.
